Help !!!!

I'm a 53 year old male, I was under a local doctors care for some 15
Plus years for the treatment of ADD " Adult Attention Deficit Syndrome
" He Prescribed Dexedrine Spansion Capsules 15mg. Twice Daily...Once in
the morning and again at about 3 pm in the afternoon....not too late in
the day as so it would not interfere with my sleep....However, my doctor
recently passed away and I've been looking for another doctor who's care
I could be under in a similar fashion...I've been to two local doctors
and both were hesitant to prescribe Dexedrine.....This medication works
quite well in controlling ADD for me....So as you can see I'm searching
for a doctor who is not afraid to prescribe the medication I need !! If
anyone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate
it, your input would be greatly valued ..

The doctors you have spoken with may be concerned about prescribing
Dexedrine because, I believe, it is one of the older drugs used to
treat ADD and it can be habit forming. There are several new drugs
that are being used successfully to treat ADD with fewer negatives
associated. The medications work differently on different people, so
some people need to try a few different ones to find one that works
best for them. I would encourage you to go back to the doctor you
felt most comfortable with and try the medication s/he suggests. You
might be pleasantly surprised.
